1. Kentucky - We're closing in on February and the Kentucky Wildcats are still undefeated. After blasting Arkansas on Saturday, this team will certainly hear the talk swirling around them and their chances at perfection. John Wall is a candidate for national player of the year and with 9 remaining games on national television he will certainly have a chance to make his case.
2. Villanova - This spot belongs to 'Nova because they have been on of the hottest teams in nation recently. Scottie Reynolds has taken his game to new heights, becoming maybe the most dominant point-guard in Villanova's illustrious history. This team is talented enough that the folks in Philly are thinking Final Four.
3. Kansas - The issue with KU is that they seem to be under-achieving in their last several games. They have had some very unimpressive conference wins over Baylor and Nebraska and they should be handling these teams easily. Kansas still is one of the most dangerous teams in the land and are as deep as anybody.
4. Syracuse - The Orange have relied on their defense all season and tonight will be no different when they host a gritty, gusty Georgetown team. Look out for Scoop Jardine to break out with a monster game in this classic Big East battle.
5. Texas - Rough week for the Longhorns, but they still only have two losses. Rick Barnes needs to get this team to regroup and close out the rest of their conference play on a high note. They certainly have the talent to do so.
6. Georgetown - Greg Monroe is now becoming a household name in DC. He been a rock for the Hoyas all season as they slug their way through the mighty Big East. Tonight will be the ultimate test when play 'Cuse in the Carrier Dome.
7. Michigan State - The Spartans are the class of the Big Ten and have a chance to make a nice run at a number one seed. Kalin Lucas is the straw that stirs the Spartan drink and he has been stirring up the perfect potion for Tom Izzo.
8. WVU - The Mountaineers are a true Final Four contender. They play solid fundamental team basketball and have been able to hold their own thus far in the most difficult conference in college basketball.
9. Duke - This has been a very consistent season for Duke, as they have been hovering around the top 10 all season long. They are no doubt the best team in the ACC and will prove this the rest of the way as they make their case for a number one seed.
10. BYU - Despite receiving limited national recognition, the Cougars have been red hot lately. (20-1 combined, 5-0 in the Mountain West.) Jimmer Fredette has been sensational for the Cougars, posting more than 20 points a game. The Cougars are a force to be reckoned with and people should start paying attention to them when march comes around.
Teams on the Brink:
Temple - The second best team in Philly is the cream of the crop in Atlantic 10.
Wisconsin - Trevon Hughes directs the Badger offense better than a Scorcese film.
