In the last few weeks, the number one ranking in college basketball has been a continuous revolving door, changing hands three times to as many teams. And while some want to allow Kansas right back on top, I won't be so kind to the “Lords of Lawrence.” There’s no doubt which team has earned the title of best in the land, and this time around it's not the typical ‘Cats we’re used to. It's those other ones.
1.Villanova: Prior to the start of the season,
scouts wondered about the promise of an NBA future for Scottie Reynolds, and he has proven he has the goods to bring his game to the next level. He is the reason why his team is undefeated in the toughest conference in the nation. With flashy Scottie Reynolds running the point for the Wildcats, one thing is certain: there ain't nothin’ vanilla about 'Nova.

Kansas: Big overtime win against K State the other night, but Kansas lost some of it's luster over the course of the season. This team’s performance has not transcended their talent, and Bill Self knows it's an “all or nothing”, “championship or bust” mentality in Lawrence.
3. Kentucky: The Wildcats took their first loss of the season, and for John Calipari, this could serve as a blessing in disguise. They no longer have to deal with the undefeated bullseye. Now they can simply focus on their championship run.
4. Syracuse: Like Scottie Reynolds, the more that Wesley Johnson keeps playing, the more his NBA stock keeps rising. Unquestionably, this super transfer from Iowa State has been the MVP of this nationally acclaimed Syracuse team. Despite a rough game against a pretty poor Depaul team, this team has been on a roll since the start of the season.
5. Michigan State: Tom Izzo has this team hungry for a title run, and come March, East Lansing might be dancing. They have played sensational Big-10 basketball and are certainly the class of their conference. The Spartans play sound fundamental basketball and have a lethal transition game that will run teams out of the gym.
6.West Virginia: While most would agree that 'Nova and 'Cuse are the class of the Big East, WVU trailing closely behind. They have been consistent all season long and have a defense that can match up with just about any team in the conference.
7.Georgetown: Forget about the national audience that witnessed the Duke Blue Devil beatdown on Saturday, there was one person in particular who saw the game front and center, and it was none other than the leader of the free world. Despite a rough week from the Republicans, the Hoyas were able to give President Barack Obama a Capital thrill.
8.Purdue: Give credit to the Boliermakers. They have been able to regroup after some very sloppy play. They are the second best team in their conference and have recently proven this to the entire nation.
9.Duke Duke continues to hold its own in the ACC, but I'd be worried just a bit if I were Coach K. They have two losses out conference against Wisconsin and Georgetown. It seems like Duke can wipe the floor with ACC teams, but when they get out of their element they struggle. Regardless, this team is a certified Final Four contender.
10 Texas: Huge game against Oklahoma State recently, because Texas has played poorly in the last couple of weeks. It seems like just yesterday when this team was undefeated. The Longhorns are way too talented to lose three games in two weeks.
Teams on the Brink:
Kansas State: K State has been in the top ten before, and with Jacob Pullen, well, “pulling the trigger”, this team will find itself back in business.
Ohio State: Despite a rough start, the Buckeyes have been competitive in the Big Ten.
Teams in the Clink
These teams are playing like they are in basketball prison. If they don't break out soon they'll be NIT bound.
BooConn: The Huskies are playing rusty without Jimmy Calhoun at the helm. Must win game against Louisville.
UNC: Wah!!! Tarheel fans are cryin’. This team is just inexperienced and banged up.
