Jay Crawford praises Warrick Dunn and Class Act Sports

ESPN anchor Jay Crawford has done many charity events in his time. But speaking at the Warrick Dunn Family Foundation Golf Outing in Tampa in June, he gave Dunn the highest praise he could.

In an exclusive interview with Jared Ginsberg of Class Act Sports, Crawford said:

“I’m honored that Warrick thought to ask me to come play at this event. I’ve been a fan of Warrick’s going all the way back to when he was drafted. I worked here in Tampa, so I had a chance to cover the Buccaneers when Warrick was a member of the team.  I’ve always marveled at how selfless Warrick is. Warrick is one of the guys who is most willing to give his time and money for a cause that he believes truly in.”

Dunn’s Foundation helps single-parent families, and also aims to provide homes for those in need. Unfortunately, he knows first hand just how tough it can be. There was only one parent in his household- his mother, who was a police officer. But when he was 18 years old, she was killed, and he had to take care of his five brothers and sisters.

Those events explain why he is so dedicated to this cause, and Crawford said he had never seen a more devoted athlete.

“His foundation throughout the years- and I’m not just saying this because I am here- I have personally never seen an athlete or a foundation do as much for a community as Warrick,” Crawford told Class Act Sports.

Crawford also talked about his job, hosting ESPN’s “First Take” during the week, telling Class Act Sports:

“I love my job. I think I have the best job in TV. I’m done every day at noon. I don’t know how it gets any better than that. I host a live show that’s on two hours live every day. It’s ESPN. The personalities that I get to meet and work with on a daily basis on are unbelievable. I really do think I have the best job in the world.”

Before he left, he also had a big shout-out to Class Act Sports.

“By the way, I’m a big fan of this Class Act. We need more positivity. We need more good stories. I love it. Keep up the good work!”
